        The selection process of the “100 Best HRM Companies in China of 2008” not only recognizes those outstanding companies in the field of human resource management, but also seeks the best human resource management plan to promote development of employees and improve work efficiency, as well as the HR management method to respond to market changes and support enterprise transitions. Following the example and influence of these model enterprises and HR managers, more enterprises can improve their HR management strategies, upgrade the HR management methods and technology, and improve staff quality and enhance their business compositeness.

Summary
         Of the 100 Best HRM Companies, 38 percent have more than 5000 employee,. The figures not only indicate the scope and scale of the business, also show the large investment on business management and communication. HR management inevitably is more concerned on the aspects of recruitment, staff retention and incentive programs.
         On average, the Best 100 HRM Companies have operated in China for 8.3 years. 63 percent of the enterprises are in the stage of rapid development and up to 90 percent in highly competitive markets.. The data also indicates on average 37 percent revenue growth in 2007, and even higher net income growth of 65 percent. Two start-up businesses became profitable in 2007. In the highly competitive, clothing, Internet, finance and insurance industries, there was the highest net income growth.

Recruitment
         The Best 100 HRM Companies recruited over 200,000 people in 2007, of which 45 enterprises recruited 40 percent more staff compared to the end of 2006. The top 100 companies predict that in 2008 they could recruit more than 233.200 employee. This information indicates the bright future of Chinese economy and enterprises.
         81 enterprises provide staff health insurance, 58 enterprises arrange buses or traffic subsidy, 37 enterprises give welfare funds, 12 enterprises provide stock or stock options, and 8 enterprises set pension plans. Some award bonuses to retain employees and set different levels of incentives according to the service years of employees.
         Among Best 100 HRM Companies, 65 enterprises provide for all the staff and another 20 enterprises provide training for more than the half. In addition , 58 enterprises have established rotation system, providing their staff more career development and work opportunity. 63 enterprises arranged more challenging work, provided special training and detailed performance evaluation for their core talent and potential successors.
          Corporate culture is the element unique to other companies. Best 100HRM Companies agree that once the employee get familiar with one culture and value, it is hard to accept and adapt to another one. So establish good corporate culture is an important mission for HR department.

Incentive Policy
           Incentive Payments . Among the 100 Best HRM Companies, more than 60 enterprises associated salaries with staff performances. In general, 10-15 percent of the staff compensation is incentive-based, 20 percent for management level positions. In addition, more than half of the enterprises differ in the range of more than 3 times in staff performance incentives. In the area of benefits, there are 42 enterprises providing benefits to non full-time workers, such as stock, stock options and flexible working hours. Benefits such as transportation and housing subsidies depend on employees' level of responsibility and performance.
           Democratic System. All the 100 Best Enterprises let the employees set performance goals before performance examination. In the performance checking process, they provide employees special appeal channel, or an independent department to deal with complaints. There are 15 enterprises regarding employee satisfaction surveys as one element of performance evaluation.

HR Professionals
           HR Reporting Structure Among the Best 100 HRM Companies, 36 HR departments directly report to the President of the company in China or global vice president and 45 of them reporting to vice presidents in China . Clearly these model enterprises pay much attention on HR management.
          HR strategic position. In some companies HR play the role as "the rule maker", provides a variety of management programs for other departments. Some HR take part in setting business strategy, and even enjoy the "one-vote veto" rights. Some HR takes part in production department or sales department to helping manage staff and achieve business goals. Some other HR is not only rules makers but also carry out all the regulations.
          HR professional role. A lot of HR in Best 100 Companies speaks of HR professional role during the interviews. Professional HR is capable to have the overall sight in business operation, support the implementation of the strategy, and carry out the efficient execution. It also includes personal integrity, such as respect people, fair attitude in work etc. The improvement of HR Management level in China largely depends on the enhancement of HR ability's.
