As the concept of “human resources” evolves to “human capital,” the challenge of attracting, retaining and
motivating employees has become a key topic in management and boardroom discussions. Trends such as
globalization, increasing labor costs and shortage of managerial talent have intensified pressures on
companies in China — but many of them compound the problem by failing to make the HR department and
employee management a strategic priority.

51JOB celebrates its 10-year anniversary of operations in 2008. In this past decade, companies in China have
undergone many changes in the HR area, such as the utilization of new recruitment channels and the
globalization and sophistication of employees. Human resource management is reaching a status and level of
achievement never before seen. At the same time, human resource departments are facing the enormous
pressure and challenge of finding, inspiring and retaining employees. 51JOB invites your company to take part
in the public evaluation of the 100 Best HRM Companies of 2008. We will appraise the best 100 HRM
companies in such areas as HR strategy, salary management, performance evaluation, employee training and
many more, to discuss the best practices of HRM. We hope to influence more companies to enhance the
strategic status and value of HR management, to innovate the management method and technology of HR,
increase employee sophistication and workplace ethics, and strengthen corporate competitiveness.

The Awards for the 100 Best HRM Companies of 2008 are as follows:
* 100 best HRM companies
* 11 award categories (choosing from the 100 best HRM companies, 3 companies awarded in each
category and 1 award to a small/medium-sized company with less than 500 employees). Companies must
submit an application to the “100 Best” appraisal program to be considered for the category awards.

Participation in the “Best HRM company” project is free of charge and offers:

•High-profile media attention
•Positive publicity will help to attract new talent and retain the best employees
•Benchmarking against other councils
•Top-line results and feedback from employees about their workplace (Optional, if you would like to attend)
•Providing analysis of trends and progress with objectives. (Every participating company will receive a
•top-line results summary, this includes a breakdown of results by each of the single award and benchmarking
•against other companies)

Nominee and judging process
•Stage 1 - Nominations
Nominations are actively encouraged and invited from all HR and related industry professionals. Nominations
are open by July 15, 2008.
•Stage 2 – Judging
We use the unique process for 100 Best projects. The process consists of two elements:
① 100 Best HRM Companies: At least 70% of your company’s score comes from the company questionnaires
and about 30% from the 7 professional judges.
② 11 single-awards: There is a discretional 70% of your company’s score comes from judges’ commends and
about 30% from questionnaires. Judges will use their experience to evaluate and select the winners in each
category in an impartial, balanced and fair manner.
*** After all applications have been received each will be considered and a summary report collated and
presented to the esteemed judging panel for their consideration and approval. Once this process is completed
a full list of winners will be announced across the Hong Kong Hrawards.51job.com website.
